The launch of this site (designed by Michael Welsch while working as Art Director at Spindustry Systems) was coordinated with the opening of the large new Science Center in downtown Des Moines. Their entire brand changed at this time to the modern style you see here. The theme of the building was modular flexibility. The different experience platforms in the building could be quickly and easily switched out to feature new exhibits. Even physically moving the exhibit was designed to be easy with tall, wide hallways, and the nearly invisible yet easily accessible placement of a large service elevator. This site uses that same concept. Inside pages and navigation are all design in a modular way to allow for the quick and easy addition or removal of pages or entire sections. The promo squares (near the logo on the home page and right hand column on inside pages) all feature a mouse over description and link to relevant information. These promo spots are also designed to be quick and easy to update. |
