Portfolio > Drake University — College of Business and Public Administration

The Drake University College of Business and Public Administration site (designed by Michael Welsch while working as Art Director at Spindustry Systems) needed to be re-designed for navigation and branding. Like many Universities, each department has its own look and theory of navigation, which is commonly completely different to the rest of the universities colleges. CBPA was the first college at Drake to head towards a consistent navigation and brand, which all colleges within the university would eventually adapt. The navigation system was drastically simplified without loosing any information. Where the home page had previously been littered with countless links to various forms and tools that didn't fit well into a standard category, we created “Forms” and “Resources” sections to house all these miscellaneous items. When naturally browsing the site for programs, events or news, any applicable forms or resources are also cross-referenced from those appropriate locations. Near the top of the site, audience selection links take the user to landing pages with information specific to them, while filtering out non-appropriate information from the left hand navigation’s pages. Higher up on the page, the black bar at the very top has been reserved for University wide links that would be found on all college’s sites (this feature has so far only been planned for and will be implemented in the future).
